In case you haven’t seen me about the place, I’m Kate and I’m the Business Manager at Operation Move.

I don’t do things by halves. Evident perhaps by the twin daughters. And making the Gold Coast Marathon with less than 3 minutes to cut off time. And so when I injured myself playing ‪#‎deathball‬, I have done a phenomenal job of it. Minimum 12 weeks before I can run long distance again.

Which sort of put a spanner in the works of running the Melbourne Marathon Half Marathon. Huge spanner. And when I was talking about that hugely annoying spanner with Zoey, we came up with the idea of offering up the entry for someone else to run. Because we always get our distance, one way or another.

We are so excited to be fielding a pretty fantastic team for the Melbourne Running Festival. We have people signed up for the full marathon, half marathon, 10km and 5km and it’s always a big event for us to meet up with all the people we talk to in the Community Group all the time!

For anyone thinking about signing up, don’t hesitate! It’s a great course, you’ll get to meet the #opmoverunners crew and I hear there is an excellent carb loading dinner planned for the night before.

Do you want to #runforkate or ‪#‎runforwawa‬ (in case you’re an Instagram fan)?

You can!

You get my entry into the Melbourne Marathon Half Marathon. AND – you get a personalised training plan from Zoey so you’re fully prepared for the half marathon. AND you get access to our OpMove Runners private running group for the duration of your training.

How do you enter? It’s too easy. Just comment underneath this post why you’d like to #runforkate and we’ll draw a winner. And make sure you can be in Melbourne on the date of the run! (Sunday, 18th October, 2015). Entries close 23rd August at 8:00pm.

  1. I would love the chance to really push myself and to really see what I am capable of! And having the plan from Zoey would be a great way to keep myself accountable and make sure I go in prepared! Hope you have a speedy recovery Kate! Xox

  2. I am hoping to train for a 28km run against Puffing Billy and a half marathon would help me gauge timing. Though, admittedly, my knees would need strengthening! 😆😁😅

  3. I would like to win this because today I wrote a program for a lady who's goal is to lose as least 50kg. Yesterday I signed up a client who only has one lung. 2 weeks ago a lady who has had 3 surgeries in 8 months for cancer, resulting in her having a metal sternum and ribs, a metal internal corset and a lat that has been removed and turned into a pec. These are just some of the people that it is my job to inspire. And I feel like I'm letting them down right now. I know their goals are terrifying, because I've had a terrifying goal before and I know that they will get there if they work for it, because I got there. But I need another terrifying goal. And this is terrifying. I know that cardio is my weakness, yet I tell people to work their weakness until it is a strength. I would like to win this because it is time I put my money where my mouth is and remind myself and others just how important hard work, determination and a scary goal is.

  4. Oh yes please. Why? quite frankly - training for a half marathon would take my mind off the crap that I am dealing with right now. It will give me strength - emotionally and physically - I need that. xo Thanks Kate and Zoey and Kate - you are all superstars!

  5. Firstly I'd like to say thank you for the opportunity to win this, disappointing for you Kate that this awesome prize has come at the expense of your injury. I'd love to win this prize & run in my first marathon for a number of reasons, to prove I can do it mainly to myself but also my family (& my physiotherapist who hates me running after major surgery last year lol), I need a big goal to aim towards & to be held accountable for. Most of all I need to come first for a change & make my dreams & goals reality. Good luck everyone & speedy recovery Kate. x

  6. I would love to win this because I have struggled with my weight since late primary school. I managed to find a balance with food and exercise and get down to a healthy weight when my first child was 2 which felt great! I've since had 2 more children...the lovely last, 10 months ago! I've been trying really hard to find the commitment and motivation I need to feel amazing again but am finding I'm having a few false starts. I only found my love for running 3 years ago when I trained for and completed the city to surf, my next goal was always a half marathon which I haven't managed yet but would love for this to be it!!!! 😀
