Life isn’t a 12 week plan.
Operation Move isn’t a 12 week program.

Every year for the past 20 or so, I have resolved to get fitter and quit smoking.

Every year I have failed miserably and beaten myself up for it for a while, then gone back to eating too much and not moving much at all and smoking and drinking. Because why try right? Easier to wait for next Monday, next month, next year. I’ll do it then, for sure.

The problem is, next Monday never comes. There is always a reason not to go for a walk. Too tired, too busy, too many kids, too much work to do. You don’t need to tell me YOUR excuses because they used to be mine.

So instead of telling you why you should join our team for 2014 I thought I would show you.

I have never been a sporty person. I’m not ‘returning’ to fitness, because I’ve never been that person. I’ve been that other person sitting on my bum scoffing at those weird ones out for a run.

I walked past the mirror last week before my run and I did a double take. I couldn’t work out what was weird, but it came to me later that day.

operation move change your life running mum to four

I looked like an athlete. Because I am an athlete. A mother of four, an autism parent and awareness advocate, a shiftworkers wife, a blogger, and an athlete.

You can make all the resolutions you like and give them up a week later. You can accept life as it stands, you can accept that you’ll never feel any better in or about yourself than you do right now.

Or you can find people who want a bit of motivation, just like you do. You can make a 30 minute walk a few days a week part of your normal. That’s all it takes. That is the first and hardest step.

Where you go from there is entirely up to you, but you will have support. Instead of a resolution this year, will you join our team? Will you make a commitment to move in January and check in with your minutes, just for one month to see how it feels?

Are you ready to be all you can be?

“Out on the roads there is fitness and self-discovery and the persons we were destined to be..”

Learn to Run starts on the 29th May and there are only 21 spaces available.

Claim your spot today and join the team that is going to support your goals in 2017

Are you ready to take your running to the next level?

Hey Kate, is there a link for this that I can share on FB... only asking coz I can't do it myself via my phone and won't be on the computer today :)

Yes! This team is amazing and I hope I can motivate people to join. I'm not after a 12 week plan, I've been there before and it didn't change my life. I've been hanging around Operation Move for close to 12 weeks and my life change has been massive already. The biggest change has been learning to love myself. I'm not moving because I have too, I'm doing it because I deserve to be happy and healthy.

That is so great Jo! There is so much benefit for your whole family hey? I can't believe I spent so many years thinking it was normal to be exhausted by my kids and not able to keep up!

  6. I started running about 5 months ago and joined this group around the same time. I have to say its the best move I have made in a long time. I'm feeling and looking alot healthier and my confidence and self esteem have improved as well. I pretty much owe it all to this group because I'm not sure I'd still be running if it weren't for all of you!!

So proud of you too Chels!! Love so much that you're a part of this <3

  12. I am in!! I love all you ladies, and you have all helped me SO SO much!! I still have a long way to go, but love being able to see the differences in myself (physically and emotionally) so far. I am happier!! I have so much more confidence in almost everything I do. I can't wait to continue this in the new year. However!!..... The new year brings with it a brand new goal.... One I would have been scared to admit a few months ago, but one I feel confident with now. 2014, I am in 'training'. Not for a 5km, or a half marathon or anything. But I have decided to follow in my hubbys footsteps, and apply to the Queensland Police Force. We will be training together to hopefully both get in. Yup - this is my goal. I have you lovelies to thank for it too. xxxx

    • Zoey Dowling

WOW Tiff! That is a brilliant goal! Congrats and I know you will reach it too! So happy to read all of this :)

  14. ooh...lets quit smoking together! can't wait to take on a op move challenge this year...totes blogging about it! :)

    • Zoey Dowling

Yay Jaz!! I actually quit in mid Sept, and am so happy to be a non smoker after all those years! Someone wise said to me a while ago that walking/running/getting healthier was the first step to quitting and I thought they were a bit loopy, but now I am convinced they were right. I was on he path even before I knew it! So if you do decide to quit I will totally have your back! Hubs and I have both used Champix and it worked really well for us :) So happy to have you join us!

  16. I was a mover and a successful one about a year ago losing 30kg. Now after stacking on a disgraceful 12kg since April, I've started to wonder if I'll ever get back on that track again. I'm an excuse-maker who medicates herself with food. I desperately need to find that person again who's happy place was the gym, who looked forward to eating right, who couldn't wait until the next edition of a fitness mag came out and who believed in herself. Hopefully with OM's help it's possible. Thanks Kate x

Go and join the forums right now Cass!! I absolutely believe in you. I know I've hit a wall the past month or so and allowed some weight to creep back on and stopped making good choices about what goes in my mouth. I think part of that is the season, but I also am really good at excuse making :s Let's have a kick arse 2014 together yes? xox

  18. Great post Kate. I believe in setting goals, not resolutions. Like you said, they get thrown out. I'm looking forward to a busy year full of challenges and successes.

I'm a mum to two gorgeous girls, also an ASD mum, a wife to an amazing hubby who works 6 days a week, about to start part time study and was always someone to make excuses. Not anymore :) I'm ready to be all that I can be!
